Home schooling

Reagan is doing so good writing some words and learning her lowercase letters, within a week I feel like she has really learned almost all of them. She can write a few words by herself and recognize a few. Hop,top, pop. Cat,hat, mat, sat, bat. Can,man, ran. And so on. We are really working at a nice pace. I am going to do some math with her tomorrow, with the cuisinair rods, matching numbers with the links on the rods. I am following my phoenetic awareness steps book from suanna. It is helpful. I am melding with all my other "montessori" methods and things are progressing well.
Reagan and Allison both enjoy their bible story time at night now, we are really trying to stick with that.

Slowly as we go

This weekend was nice. We went to the pool, we hung out, I cleaned out some closets and some cabinets, did 7 loads of laundry, and changed my sheets. Mulched the back and front yards and pulled weeds.
So needless to say there is alot of trash that will have to be taken away this week. Allison had her second K music class today and she is wild. She doesn't sit and listen to the book, or stay with me at all. What do I do? She is having a good time, but is this behavior disruptive to others? I'm going to have feel her teacher out about this. Maybe her Friday school will help her with impulse control. That would nice for someone else to conquer that one.....wishful thinking.

Projects

These last few days have been okay. Reagan has discovered on her own how to write cat, which then lead to hat, sat, mat, fat. She is doing so well. I look at her and see so much potential. She can figure things out if just left to understand it her way.
They spent the day with mom yesterday all day! It was great to get a break, I just went to the fabric store and browsed til my hearts content then bought fabric for a dress, a suit, skirt and two pairs of pants.
These are all for the fall. I couldn't find anything to wear for fall that I could afford, or that didn't look like everything else. I am going to design clothes one day and SELL them again. It is such a passion. I look through magazines and see nothing that resembles what young 30's ladies want to wear. Isn't their anything between college wear and old lady? I don't think I will want to dress like an old lady when I am one. When Donny hits his thing, I am going to design and mass produce. I can do it.
I am going to go cut out one dress today. It should be really simple to make. We'll see.
Then today I met an old friend at the park with her two kids and they played and enjoyed the ducks it was great talking to her again and hashing over the past and now reintroducing ourselves as adults. Fun.

Come on Monday, monday...

You know when you want Monday you have had a horrible day sunday. Bad mood, and accused of treating T bad as always. He doesn't understand that checking everything is part of parenting. It drives me crazy how everyone cannot get up and get ready ON TIME on sundays to leave-I hate being late.
It is rude and disrespectful to whereever you are going.
Allison had her first K-music class today and really enjoyed it alot. She is so fun loving and happy. She cheered and took part really well. She is great.

Breakin up and gettin' back together is hard to do

I hate Friday nights and Saturdays when Taylor comes back. It is readjustment time. It makes me act like someone I am not, unhappy and bitter. I hate myself sometimes. Oh well.

New Beginnings

We are trying homeschooling. I am beginning to homeschool my preschooler as of last Monday.
Monday afternoon while Allison took her nap, Reagan and I got to work. We reviewed our capital letters, which she has mastered and their sounds, but then began working on lowercase recognition too. I played a phonics game with her from the Wright Group activities. Also I had made cards with various letters on them with some of them being the letters in her name, in lowercase and her sorting through and picking out her letters. Then we read "Frog and Toad" stories and did our review and building exercises on the number 1. Tuesday we read 2 books and worked on writing our letters in lowercase.
Wednesday Donny did most of number 2 with Reagan and then had her write 4 lowercase letters a few times.
I had to work w-f this week, so it looks like it is going to be 2 days a week from me, and then preschool on Fridays formally. I'm so annoyed that all I can afford right now is one day of preschool when all my friends have picked the finest beginnings for their child, or so it seems. So my goal is to match what they are doing- I printed off a private schools lesson plans for this year and we are going to follow and hopefully surpase it. One note-She has to be able to write her name in one week.
Funny thing-The girls on Monday had bits of paper and were throwing them in the air and letting them rain down and Reagan said "hey mom, look at our hoorah paper"! (Instead of confetti)
